Do not resist the temptation to try it!

This past weekend the Latin music festival, Tropicália, in Southern California for the third year in a row, featuring artists such as Chicano Batman, Los Tigres Del Norte, Kali Uchis, and more.

But music was not the only thing that excited those who attended. The world’s number one scotch whiskey brand Johnnie Walker, teamed up with mixologist Othón Nolasco from Los Angeles to introduce this year’s official festival cocktail, Tropicália CoCochata.

Tropicália CoCochata channels the spirit and energy of Tropicália as a celebration of Latin culture and its flavors. Also, the festival guests did not miss the churro ornament made by Hot Churros of the. The cocktail was only available exclusively this past weekend at the John Walker & Sons Cocktail Grocer, located between the stages of Tropicália and L.A. Taco. But for those who could not attend, and do not resist the temptation to try it, here we share the recipe.

Tropicalia CoCochata


  • 2oz Johnnie Walker Black Label
  • 4oz of CoCochata mix *

Glass: Highball

Decorate: Grated cinnamon & mini churro

Instructions: Combine Johnnie Walker Black Label and the CoCochata mix on ice in a cocktail shaker. Whisk and strain on fresh ice. Decorate with grated cinnamon and mini churro.

* CoCochata Mix:


  • 1.5 oz Coconut 3 ways
  • 1.0 oz rice
  • 2 dashes of cinnamon
  • 0.25 oz vanilla
  • 0.75 almond
  • 0.5 oz Sugar Cane

Instructions: Wash the rice several times using a japanese bowl.

Soak all the ingredients with the exception of the sugar. Strain the solids with a fine mesh strainer. Reservation. Strain the liquid with a cheesecloth. Reservation. Add liquid to the step, stir and test.
