Moreover, the Galaxy M20 has a battery with a large capacity promised by the Samsung to be able to last a long time in normal use. In addition to the support of 2 rear cameras, Samsung provides a full screen design with bangs to rival other smartphones in the same price range.

Interestingly, I also had the opportunity to taste the Galaxy M20 for several weeks to be used in daily activities. For that, for Gadgeters who are curious about the advantages, disadvantages, battery life, performance, and camera of this smartphone, you can see the following review article.

The design

Samsung Galaxy M20 Display

Finally Samsung also follows the current smartphone trend by pinning bangs or waterdrop shaped notches similar to Huawei Mate 20, OPPO F9, and Vivo V11 Pro which are used to pin the front camera while minimizing the thickness of the bezel at the top of the screen.

While the screen itself has a width of 6.3 inches with Full HD + resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels), PLS TFT technology, and a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio that fills the front so that users are more free to watch videos or play games.

Meanwhile, the virtual navigation button is located at the bottom of the screen consisting of the back, home, and recent buttons. But the position of the back and recent buttons themselves can be exchanged depending on the tastes of users.

The back of the smartphone body uses polycarbonate material that is susceptible to scratches and easy to get dirty, especially the sticking of fingerprints. For this reason, Galaxy M20 users should buy an additional case in order to protect the back.

Meanwhile, the 2 main cameras and LED Flash have been arranged vertically on the left rear. Not to forget, the fingerprint sensor is also present on the back of the Galaxy M20.

Turning to the right side, there are volume and power buttons arranged vertically, making it easier for users to do a screenshot combination using only one hand.

Furthermore, on the left side there is a SIM card slot that allows users to pin 2 SIM cards and 1 microSD card at once. Of course this is perfect for users who have 2 SIM cards, but want to increase their storage capacity.

Finally, a 3.5mm audio jack port is attached to the bottom to connect earphones or headphones to smartphones, USB Type-C ports for battery charging or data transfer, and speaker holes.

Samsung Galaxy M20 is equipped with Exynos 7904 Octa-core 1.8 GHz chipset with 14nm process technology complete with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage which is claimed by Samsung to be able to run applications or games in daily activities .

To prove this claim, I also try to run a variety of applications that are often used for daily routines, such as social ne2rking, telephone, SMS, chat, the occasional video player, document editor, and occasional music player.

The result, the Samsung Galaxy M20 is able to run this application in turn smoothly. As for heavy testing, I also play a variety of popular games in Indonesia ranging from Mobile Legends, Garena AOV, PUBG Mobile, and Garena Free Fire.

These four games can run smoothly on high graphics settings. Meanwhile, Garena AOV, PUBG Mobile, and Garena Free Fire can also be run smoothly on the High Frame Rate settings.

Galaxy M20 Benchmark

Not to forget, I also did a benchmark test using the AnTuTu Benchmark and Geekbench applications. The result, this smartphone managed to get AnTuTu score which reached 108,944 points.

While the benchmark results with Geekbench reached 1,321 points for Single-core testing and 4,087 points for Multi-core testing. When viewed from the score that appears, the performance of the Galaxy M20 is able to compete with smartphones that use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Octa-core chipset in the middle class.

Samsung Galaxy M20 PowerVolume

One feature that is featured on the Galaxy M20 is its battery which has a capacity of 5000 mAh. Even the Samsung claims that the battery can last for 17 hours to watch videos, 28 hours for the phone, or 100 hours to play music.

To prove this claim, I also tried this smartphone to be used in daily activities by running chat applications, telephone, SMS, social ne2rking, cameras, occasional games, occasional video players, document editors, and e-mails.

The result is the Samsung Galaxy M20 is able to last for 1 day 1 hour from 100% to 15%. You could say Samsung is quite efficient in managing battery power so that it can last a long time when used in daily activities.

Interestingly, this smartphone is also equipped with a 15W Fast Charging feature that allows charging a battery from 0 to 100% within 2 hours 10 minutes. You could say the long battery life and fast charging are the main values of the Galaxy M20.

Samsung Galaxy M20 DualCam

This Samsung middle class product is equipped with 2 rear cameras that have a combination of 13 MP primary camera with f / 1.9 aperture + 5 MP secondary camera with f / 2.2 aperture with ultrawide lens and LED Flash.

Two rear cameras are able to produce bokeh photos (background blur) instantly and neatly thanks to the Live Bokeh feature that has been embedded in the default camera application. Meanwhile, the ultrawide-lensed secondary camera from the Galaxy M20 allows me to produce photos with a large area.

Insufficient light and bright conditions, the 2 Galaxy M20 rear cameras are capable of producing good quality photos. But the results of the photo are less attractive in night conditions or low light.

In my opinion, Samsung should improve the quality of the photo when taken at night. While the 8 MP front camera embedded in this smartphone is able to produce selfies with bokeh effects, stickers, and beauty.

For that, for Gadgeters who are curious about the quality of the Galaxy M20’s photo, you can see the results below. (click image to enlarge)

Samsung Galaxy M20 Fingerprint

As a middle-class smartphone, the Galaxy M20 has been equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the back. When I tried it, this sensor was able to respond to my fingerprint quickly.

Although it can respond quickly, the placement of this sensor is too parallel to the rear body so that sometimes I often get confused between the fingerprint and the body when scanning fingerprints.

In addition to unlocking smartphones, this fingerprint sensor can also be used to make it easier to log in on various websites and identify passwords from Samsung accounts that are owned.

Face Unlock

If the gadget feels uncomfortable using the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy M20, you can try the Face Unlock feature that has been provided in it. This feature is able to respond to faces quickly, even in low light conditions. As always, only one face can be registered on this feature.

Android Oreo

Galaxy M20 Android

Although Samsung has launched Android 9 Pie with the One UI interface, the Samsung Galaxy M20 still uses the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with the Samsung Experience 9.5 interface.

Compared to TouchWiz, the Samsung Experience 9.5 interface is more attractive with a smooth transition and has a simple design that makes users comfortable when using the Galaxy M20.

The dual-split multitasking feature itself is present in it which allows users to run 2 applications on one Galaxy M20 screen. If the smartphone screen is felt wide, then the user can shrink the smartphone display with the One-Handed mode feature so that it can be reached using only one hand.

Samsung Galaxy M20 Sim card

Samsung Galaxy M20 has the advantage of long battery life plus powerful performance so it can compete in the middle class. The 2 main cameras are also quite interesting because they are able to produce large-area photos and bokeh instantly.

But the ability of the camera needs to be improved again when shooting in low light or night conditions. In addition, the rear body is easily dirty and susceptible to scratches because it is made of glossy polycarbonate material. For that, the gadget needs to use an additional casing so that the rear body is protected.

Overall, I am satisfied using the Galaxy M20 for several weeks. Moreover, the battery endurance is long, even though I play games and often open social ne2rks though.
