1. Chipset Decrease from Previous Generation

Redmi 8 Strengths & Weaknesses

Redmi 8 comes with the Snapdragon 439 chipset. The chipset comes with a 12nm fabrication process. Inside this chipset, a 1.95GHz Cortex A53 quad core processor and a 1.45GHz Cortex A53 quad core processor are embedded. For the graphics processor, embedded Adreno 505.

The use of the Snapdragon 439 chipset on Redmi 8 is a downturn. Because Redmi 7 uses Snapdragon 600 series namely Snapdragon 632.

The use of Snapdragon 439 clearly makes Redmi 8’s performance decline considering the Snapdragon 400 series is under the Snapdragon 600 series class even though the Snapdragon 439 is built with a smaller fabrication process.

The use of Snapdragon 439 chipset also makes Redmi 8 as if not much different from Redmi 8A.

Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A have a score of 70 thousands based on the Antutu 7 benchmark. The score clearly makes the two phones actually have performance that is not much different. Therefore, this performance sector is lacking in this phone. Redmi 8 should have a better chipset or at the very least, keep using Snapdragon 632 like Redmi 7.

2. No Notification LED

Redmi 8 Strengths & Weaknesses

Another disadvantage of Redmi 8 is the absence of notification LEDs. This feature is quite useful to find out the presence or absence of notifications on the screen. Unfortunately, it seems that this feature is considered trivial so it is not so noticed by mobile manufacturers.

3. The camera is less okay in condition Low-light

Redmi 8 has a poor camera quality for low light conditions.

The photos from Redmi 8 phone is not good enough for low light conditions. Actually it is natural that the back camera quality of this phone is for low-light unsatisfactory because Redmi 8 is in the affordable price class but it would be better if at least the photos are still worth seeing.

Conclusions

Redmi 8 turns out to have advantages in the battery, the ability of splashes of water, a premium-looking design, and USB Type-C. These features are quite good for a cell phone in this price class.

Unfortunately, for performance, Redmi 8 becomes the same class as Redmi 8A. Though usually the series that do not use “A” is better than those who use “A”. Interested in Redmi 8? If interested, please buy Redmi 8 from below link.
