They are benign spots but they must be protected very carefully.
Also called ephelides, freckles are benign spots that appear on the skin, due to the high melanin pigment in the skin. What is melanin? It is the main natural pigment responsible for the color of our skin and hair.
Freckles can appear mainly in people with very light skin, but they can also appear by inheritance, if several members of the family already have them. They come out anywhere on the body, but more commonly on the face, back, arms and shoulders; and darken when exposed to sunlight regardless of the season of the year you are in.
According to dermatologists, it is very important for people who have freckles to use a daily sunscreen that has a high protection factor, with an SPF50 or higher. If you do not pay attention to, or give the necessary care to your freckles, you can put yourself at risk of skin cancer like melanoma.
